On July 6th the students of grade 11 & 12 hosted and participated in the very first English Fest of the senior secondary in the Vishwam Block Gallery. The event commenced with the arrival of the Director Ms. M. Varalakshmi and the Principal Ms. P. Kanchana Valli. The Principal of Jubilee Hills Public School Rampally was also present on the occasion.
This event was organized to appreciate and celebrate the English language and also to encourage the students to develop a lasting interest and love for English Literature. The students participated enthusiastically without inhibitions to take part in the various competitions organized as a part of the English Fest.
The programme began with a tribute to the Father of English Literature Geoffrey Chaucer. The students with their representation of the various venerable authors, poets and literary figures and characters were the cynosure of all eyes and enlivened the proceedings with their costumes and demeanours.
It was a wonderful spectacle indeed to watch the students come forth in their representation of famous historical and literary characters like Martin Luther King, Malala Yousufzai, Greta Thunberg etc. and speak their hearts out in evocative recollections of the rousing words of these inspirational luminaries in a much appreciated Declamation.
This was followed by gutsily battled debates on various topics of interest. It was an entertaining verbal duel with the participants forcefully defending their stances to the utter delight of the audience.
This was followed by a vocabulary competition ‘What’s the Good Word?’ that was a treat to watch with the students trying to guess the word through the various hints provided.
It was a wonderful mêlée of wits and emotions and the participants as well as the audience was enthralled.
The esteemed dignitaries expressed their appreciation for the well organized event.
