The workshop for financial literacy was conducted on 9th September 2024. The speaker for the day was Ms. Tanya Saha who is currently posted in Hyderabad as a Grade B officer in RBI. She shared her inspiring journey as an officer who has joined in 2018, her first posting being in Guwahati. The session began with a question and answer round. Students who answered the questions were rewarded by her which grabbed the interest of the students in the session and were excited to participate. A gist was given on RBI’s infrastructure and functioning – 27 offices, 6 sub offices all over the country. The students were thrilled to learn about the fascinating process of minting money, its monetary policies and different foreign exchange policies. Various rounds of questions were asked to keep the students engaged. Information was given on interesting topics like Banker’s bank, Monetary policy committee, inflation target fixed by the committee, life cycle of the currency notes, FEMA act, Vidya Lakshmi scheme, RBI retail direct website to invest in government securities without middle men, Bank Ombudsmen act and Rule 72 on investment. In conclusion, the workshop was a huge success, having reached the right audience and truly motivated those seeking career in banking finance.
