Disaster Management

With an aim to update students awareness about various skills in life, Jubilee Hills
Public School, Hyderabad, organized a Disaster Management session for the grade
8 students on 21st February ’23. Sri Prakash Reddy (IPS), Director of Directorate
of Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management and his team presented the
session. Sri. K.Krishna Dev Rao, President of Jubilee Hills Education Society, Sri.
A. Muarli Mukund, Chairman of JHPS, Sri Shravan Kumar and Sri.A.Akarsh
Krishna, Members of School Managing committee, Smt.P. Kanachana Valli , Vice
Principal and staff were present on the occasion.
The session began with a presentation on the major fire accidents in the recent
past and the damage they had caused. The causes of fire accidents the various
fire extinguishing material used and ‘Stop Drop Roll’ mechanism was explained
in detail. Addressing the students, Sri.Prakash Reddy, elucidated the Disaster
Response Force (DRF), a unit of the GHMC, and its role in handling various
disasters in the city. A presentation was made showing the various operations the
team handled in the city like building collapse, flood management, road collapse,
train accident, human and animal rescue etc. He also emphasised on the various
training modules his team undergoes to deal with disasters of great magnitude. The
students were given a demo and a hands on experience of various equipment used
rescue operations.
The students found the session very informative and engaging. The event
concluded with the vote of thanks.
