| SPACE CLUB ACTIVITIES AT JHPS |

| Astronomy club- Kritika was initiated in the school with an orientation by the coordinators of Space Astronomy Club. As it was the first inclusion, it was extended to classes 6-8 The programme started in our school with a strength of 25 students w.e.f 10th July 2008.

| The members of the club were provided with equipments like astronomy kits, planesphere and refractor telescopes. The module included interactive sessions , Sky observations ( Evening and Night) model making, quizzes etc. Sessions were conducted in the school on various topics like the sun, the moon, seasons , directions , eclipses , constellations. These sessions included class room teaching , activity based lessons , multi media classes and interactive activities. The members were updated about the astronomical events happened during the year.

| Evening observations of the sky was organized in the school on 6th Feb2009 when Babies Night –out was conducted in the school. Children had hands on experience with telescopes. They could closely observe different features of the moon and locate some stars.

| Night observation of the sky was organized at kesargutta 50 km away from the city. They were accommodated at Divya Resort over night. Children had hands on experience with their kits and telescopes and observed night sky ,constellation and star gazing. This enhanced their knowledge about the solar system and early morning solar walk enriched their knowledge about the features of the planets of the solar system.

| Astronomy Showcase 2008 was arranged at Harihara Kalabhavan, Secunderabad on 4th July2009.Our students prepared a model Mission to Europa which was well appreciated and won runners -up trophy (second position) competing with 14 schools.

| The students of Jubilee Hills Public School were motivated with the activities of Space Club and The second schedule of Space club-Kritika started in the month of August 2009 with 39 students registering -29 for I Module and 10 students II Module.

| The first module includes sessions, competitions and observations (evening and night). The second Module consists of sessions, competitions and observations (evening and night)

| Sessions of second Module are mainly based on experiments.(practical classes) Inter school Space board competitions are being conducted every two months with given topics. Members are to arrange the board with models and charts filled with information about astronomers, Space news ,poems, articles etc.
